So I've just moved to a new city to study. I was desperate to find a house to move into, and after searching for ages I found one that seemed alright, it was dirt cheap and in a rough neighbourhood but I can't afford to pay for anywhere better at the moment.
Whilst I was looking round the house, one of the tenants told me that they had bed bugs, but not to worry because the landlord was having it sorted out. Like I said, I was desperate for a place to live and didn't do my research on bed bugs beforehand, and so ended up moving into the house.
This was two weeks ago, and progress on getting these bugs sorted out is moving very slowly. I've just been told today that a PCO is coming round in 10 days to sort out the bugs.
I still haven't unpacked my suitcases, and I've been living in fear since I got here. I feel so stupid, I wish I could move out but I'm afraid the bugs have already got into all my stuff and would follow me if I found a new place. None of my housemates seem to be as bothered about this as I am. After living here two weeks I realised that I've been trying my best to ignore the whole situation but I got home from studying today and just burst into tears. This is a really bad infestation, if I lift up the covers from my mattress I can see them scuttling about.
I don't know what to do. I don't know if I can wait 10 days just for the treatment to be started, and god knows how long before they've been got rid of. We live in a long row of houses as well and I'm sure the neighbours have them too, and since it's such a poor neighbourhood I can't see them all paying to get their houses de-bugged.
Should I wait until the PCO comes to start sorting out this mess? Or would it be easier for me to move out and try and de-infest all my stuff? How would I go about de-infesting everything?
