I loved in an apartment that, turned out, had a bed bug problem. Because of that my mom got them in her little trailer. Once we moved, we tried to be diligent about what we put in our new cabin. However, 2 months later, we had them again. After 6 months of diligence, decluttering, lots of diamataceous earth and 90% alcohol, sealing up a couch, and constant laundering of linens, we eventually stopped seeing bites and stopped seeing bugs or signs of bugs. Since then I even got my own cabin. I check daily (for the last 4 months since that six month mark at my moms cabin-which I shared with her) and not one sign, not one bite, no nothing. A month ago, my sister came over (as usual....and she managed to avoid infestation til this point). Since then she said she gets bit, and the other day an exterminator found a couple shells near her couch and bet. No blood stains, no fecal stains, no live bugs. He wants to heat treat. I find it odd those are the only signs. Especially since she got them after we have totally been 4 months with not one sign or bite (we also continue to keep up our spraying, diatamacepus earth, and cleaning efforts daily). Should she seek a second opinion? Could it be coincidence and she may have got them elsewhere? No blood or fecal stains? No live bugs? A few shells in two spots? Info?
