So in July of this year I bought a beautiful new bed from IKEA, the MALM pull up storage bed to be precise. My husband and I put it all together and were very happy with it until August. I had been have itchiness around my ankles and lower legs but originally put it down to mosquitoes due to it being the summer months but towards the end of August as I stripped my bed linens I noticed a bug so I squashed it and saw blood. My first reaction was a total freak out as I am sure many other people react the same way. My next was to call Orkin and they sent out their technician two days later. He confirmed that it was indeed bed bugs and showed me their signs.
After the first treatment he showed me what he had found and explained what he had done, he said that we were lucky because we had found things quickly and we were not "infested" as such, we just had a "small problem". We had our second treatment two weeks later and he said that he had found maybe three so we should be good. Two weeks later and we found another one, just one but called Orkin again and they came round again and gave us another treatment. On Thanksgiving day here in Canada (Oct 10) just as I was thinking I could start unpacking all the garbage bags that I have been living out of I found another one. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. So I called Orkin yet again and they sent their tech round yet again. It has been two weeks now since their last visit and so far I have seen nothing. Fingers crossed!
I contacted IKEA and told them of my problem. They sent a tech round and I showed him my bugs and he took pictures etc etc ... finally heard back from them and they basically said 'you have no proof it came from our merchandise so we are going to do nothing about it. Have a great day'
