sleeplessincincy on "Very likely have Bedbugs... Might have spread them"

So, after a week and a half of thinking/ and not thinking of having them, tomorrow I'm finally getting checked by an exterminator from the apartment complex. I've had bites, some stains on the bed, possible dead bugs, but no definite fecal stains. While I know I can deal with my own problem, my worries are compounded by the fact that I spent a week with my parents recently and that I stayed over at my friend's place on NYE. My parents already know of the situation and are supportive (don't seem to think it's real, but whatever.) But my friends... I immediately started noting problems (like bites) after returning from their place, (I'm fairly sure I did not get it from them, nor from my parents), so I stayed at their place in ignorance. I obviously should tell them, but I fear their wrath. The guy of the couple has had bed bugs before, but they live in a nicer house, which will make the issue so much more difficult than in my small crappy apartment with relatively few belongings (It is will still be expensive on my part, though the landlord should cover it).
I guess I should tell them when I know for sure and they should start detecting? I mean I think I'm in a very early stage of infestation, but it is still possible bugs could have been tracked on my coat/clothes while I stayed.. both on their couch in the living room and in the upstairs guest room. Infecting them is seriously worse then being infected myself to be honest.
Any hints / help on this guys? I seriously can't sleep either and it's killed my work so far (I'm a grad instructor working on my diss).
How should I tell them?
