I'm posting here in the hopes of getting a little reassurance that we're going about this the right way.

We're in a single family home in a rural area. We do quite a bit of traveling, and think that we picked them up in a hotel stay in mid-November. We first noticed 'oddities' (the occasional bites on my partner, a blood smear on the sheets) around Thanksgiving, but finally realized what was going on in mid-December when I googled to see what the black marks on our white sheets might be. I don't react to the bites, so I wasn't as quick as I should have been to realize we had an issue. We found quite a bit of evidence of fecal and a couple of non-adults on the head end of the mattress/box springs in our bedroom, but were not able to find evidence of infestation anywhere else in the house through our initial inspections. The only place other than the bedroom we ever saw anything was in the bathroom, where I'm 99% positive a hitchhiker landed from coming from the bedroom to take a shower.

Being near the holidays, and being so rural, we weren't able to get a PCO out to the house for an inspection until after Christmas, and the first treatment didn't come until after New Year's. We read up on precautions on this site and got to work. We installed interceptors, bagged up all the clothing we weren't immediately using, did (and are doing) the laundry dance in XL Ziplocs every day, de-cluttered like crazy, moved our rather large collections of stuff out to a storage unit in taped/bagged bins for later debugging, and we began spraying the mattress/box springs/cracks with 91% alcohol and vacuuming those areas every day. We cleared out/boxed up/bagged up EVERYTHING that wasn't nailed down and still didn't see a thing anywhere other than the bedroom.

The PCO's first visit was very thorough, and used a combination of methods (dust/spray/steam). He treated every room. After his visit, we have not seen any signs of anything in nearly a week. Their policy is to their follow up treatment in 30 days, which I'm a bit leery of since I read on here that 2 weeks is more of a standard. They said they don't recommend DE or self-treatment within this 30 day window, but we didn't ask about Cimexa.

As I'm sure you all understand, my mental state is not the best right now. Even though we haven't seen a single thing in the climb ups, I'm still on high alert, not sleeping, fearing the worst. Is there anything else we should be doing as we wait for the follow-up treatment? Are there hot spots that might be still harboring them that we're not considering? Is it normal to see absolutely nothing after the first visit? Is it normal for them to stay contained to the bedroom, even after a month or so of not realizing we had them/not treating?
