VoltaN on "Preventing bugs when buying used electronics."

I hope you don't all hate me, since I'm around here a lot asking so many questions. But I've got "The Fear", and I figure learning all I can is the best weapon I can have. (It also eases my mind a lot) Better safe than sorry, right?

I've searched around and read several other posts about when people buy used products from Ebay, and used electronics. Ive found several recomendations, but I was wondering what people have found to be the most effective.

I've bought a used (ancient) Polaroid camera, for pretty cheap on ebay, which will be arriving within the next 24 hours. It looks like it needs to be cleaned up pretty badly, and Im fairly certain the Seller probably got it from "buying out" a storage unit, with a lot of used books.
While I've read that it's pretty unlikely (though not impossible) to get bedbugs from used electronics, I'd still like to ask about what might be the best option to check for bed bugs in it, and preventing them if there is any present?

I've read about the Nuvan/Hot Shot strips, and placing them in a sealed bag with electronics, or just placing a folded sock/rag with it. I've seen a lot of people advising against this method though, and I would like to if it's just because it's a dangerous chemical, or just ineffective at killing the bugs?

I can not afford a packtite, nor do I have access to one. Would it even be safe to put the camera in one?

I've read that blowing a hair dryer on it would possibly work? Could the air blow the buggers out of sight, before I even see them? If the hair dryer is the best option here, should I just do it outside?

What have you all found to work best with electronics like this? Should I just clean it up, and then store it in a sealed bag until I'm ready to use it? I'm open to suggestions, and info.

While I'm not sure if the camera even works, as I bought it as a prop for a costume I'm making, I don't want to ruin it, if it does happen to work. (Because who needs a cell phone for free selfies when you can spend 30 bucks on 8 blurry photos! Lol!)

Thanks for putting up with me, and answering my questions!
