So I was just recently exposed to a relative who has bed bugs, so I am on high alert. I was cleaning the bedroom and found some kind of skin / casing / body part (?):

It looks like the abdomen of a fed adult bb, but obviously disconnected from the rest. Would it retain the elongated shape and color if it were dead (i.e., wouldn't the blood seep out of it, returning it to the flat circular shape?). The picture isn't of high enough detail to see this, but there are the infamous horizontal bands around whatever that is.

I did use a dab of saliva to see how it reacted, which resulted in it smearing a little, but it was always 3 separate marks like that. Could I still order and use BB Blue, or did my introduction of human saliva ruin the possibility of accurate results?
