SO here's a long story. Jan 4th I overheard downstairs neighbor talking that someone had brough a blanket in to his place and there were bed bugs crawling on it. He had gotten rid of it but obviously after reading info here I know they were probably still in his place. SO instantly I decided I'm moving out of here. It was a small bachelor place I had been in for quite a while and since it was cheap and easy I hadn't moved. Hearing that was enough to get me in gear. Instantly the next day went and viewed a place, and within 11 days (the 15th) I had moved. Anyways, move in to this new place, the 2nd night there I woke up with two bites, a week or so goes by and a few more happen. I tell the new landlord I think I'm getting bit by something. He tells me there were bed bugs in there before, and they had it treated 4 times and were assured it was clean, and noone had been in this place for two months. Says noone else in the building is complaining of anything, and he says we gave everyone in the building mattress covers as a precaution so I will get you some. Should they have not disclosed to me there was a problem before? So another week or so goes by and I'm not noticing anything, except I have two cats who seem to now be biting at themselves quite a bit. Last week I come home and plain as day on the couch I find a bed bug shed skin, except it looks like an actual bug and not pictures Ive seen online of skins. It's definitely a bed bug, no mistaking that, but there are no legs and it looks like it split through the abdomen, just a shell and a tiny little head. SO I put it in a ziploc, emailed the landlord and he tells me to show the caretaker who lives upstairs. I show him, he also says noone else has been complaining and believe me they would. He tells the landlord and the landlord tells him ok he's going to treat. This is a week ago tomorrow and I haven't heard anything from them. I've been vacumming, and going through stuff quite a bit, haven't found anything live, but I'm pretty sure I've found a few fecal spots, and pretty positive one on my pants I fell asleep in, and woke up with a black spot that didn't wash out. I'm still getting bit here and there. The place was quite clean when I moved in, but there definitely tons of nooks and crannies that would be quite easy for them to hide in. It's a huge old house made in to apartments. I wonder if I brought them with me, or if I just had really bad luck and moved from a place I was worried about in to one that had them, was treated and they missed some. It's quite frustrating that this new landlord is taking his time too, as I know he's a quite wealthy property owner who owns many many buildings. It seems to be small as I haven't been able to find any live ones yet. I put the covers on my bed, but when I moved in I lost the bolts for the frame so I hadn't slept on the bed when I started noticing bites yet, and I have been continuing to sleep on the couch in fear of spreading them (read it's better to stay in one place.) It;'s a head scratcher for sure.
