Long story short-ish... I had to move out of my apartment suddenly a few months ago (NOT related to bedbugs, no bedbugs were in the building at that time) and stay with friends. But I kept paying rent because I hoped to go back soon (and all my stuff was still there). Well, it looks like I might be able to go back now, but in the mean time I find out a neighbor has bedbugs. This is a large old house (3 stories) converted into 8 one bedroom apartments. We share a common internal hallway that leads to our own front doors. I'm on the 2nd floor. The infestation is on the 3rd floor, not directly above me (well, part of his bathroom is above me, but most of his place is above the person next to me).
I love this apartment, been there 10 years, and hate to think of leaving for good. No other neighbors have reported bedbugs yet (it's been maybe a month since infestation, I think). I heard there was an exterminator there at one point, but I don't know details. My landlord is not the most responsive guy.
Am I crazy to think of moving back in there? Note, all my stuff was moved out a month ago and into storage for an unrelated reason, I don't think it was at risk. I've read some horror stories about how bad infestations can be and how fast they can spread to neighboring places, so I am wary, but I don't know the odds... is it crazy to think of moving back there or is the risk low enough to be worth it?
