I never thought I'd ever be typing this. We moved into a new house almost a month ago and everything has been perfect. I decided to let one of my kids invite 2 friends for a sleepover. These 2 kids have been to our previous house before and my kid to thiers in the past. So thought nothing of it. 3 hours after the friends were dropped off one of the kids came to me saying they saw a bug on my daughters pillow. I found a near death thin frail bug looked like a piece of leaf really. I wasn't concerned but my gut told me to put it in a baggie plus in ocd about stuff. 20 min later same girl said I see a bug on the wall. This alarmed me because this house is new and never saw any type of bug here yet besides a few ants. I bagged the bug and started Google searching. It kinda at first looked like a stage of lice so did head checks. No lice. Then I saw a picture that was exact when I clicked to my horror it popped up bedbug. It was 10:30 pm but I called both parents to pick up these kids. I felt the bugs were from one of these kids. The one kid brought 2 trash bags full of sleeping bags and stuffed animals. They were all over my daughters wood floors and bed. I immediately bagged her bed pjs she was wearing and started vaccuming. I'm ocd and I almost lost my mind that night. I started worrying what if it was my house. I checked everyone else's bed and saw nothing. I stayed up till 3am on this site learning. I woke up sat after nightmares of bugs and bought encasements for every bed here (we don't use box springs). I inspected her mattress carefully and the third time looking about the piping I found 3 more bedbugs on my daughters mattress. So I found 5 altogether. I killed them and encased her mattress. She got 12 bites that night when her friends came over. They were itching her like crazy!! She never had bites before and knock on wood none since last weekend. I called Orkin and they came first thing Monday. They found no evidence and cleared her room and house. The painters did a crap job and painted so thick there is no Crack between wall and baseboard and the wood floors have a thick poly. She was amazed no cracks. I'm grateful for the bad work now lol. I've been vaccuming everyday regardless and washing her bedding daily and twice on high in dryer. So far no bites since friday. She is sleeping in her bed. Both parents of the kids that came over deny bedbugs. However I think it was from the girl with all the stuffed animals that were all over my daughters bed and floor as my daughter had no bites before and 2 bb I found were adults. So they had to have been feeding prior. And crawling on thw wall. I read that happening in bad infestations and i have searched well and no other bb poop etc anywhere. Orkin told me after a month no bites or sighting we should be clear. Is possible I found the only 5 and could be done with this mess? This is the most anxiety provoking thing I have ever been through.
