Three out of four of my family members have been waking up with bug bites off and on for several months now. We blamed fleas. We have 2 dogs, one who is in and out and was not being treated monthly for fleas. We treated him, but the bites continued. I steamed everything, sprayed some indoor bug killer, and put borax everywhere. The bites continued. Someone suggested bed bugs, so we looked everywhere they could hide and found nothing. A few days after our first inspection, I found a cast deep in a crevice in the couch. We flipped the couch and looked under all the seams and saw nothing else. I started vacuuming like a crazy person and was checking everywhere several times a day. I stripped the bed and applied a bed bug cover. Also put covers on the pillows. I washed, dried, and bagged all clothing and blankets in our bedroom. A few days after the cast was found, I found a live bed bug on the side of the couch. That prompted another check of every crack and crevice. We ended up finding about 8 live adult bugs in our couch and chair. I found one egg and a few more casts. We bagged the chair and the couch, each with a hot shot pest strip. We also puffed in some DE before sealing the bags. We have not had a bite since and that was 11 days ago. I did flip the couch over a few days back and saw a cluster of small blood streaks inside the plastic. Would that have been the bugs trying to get out? What are the chances the bugs were contained to the couch and chair? We were sleeping on them. And one person was sleeping in the bedroom. The only evidence found in the bedroom other than receiving bites, has been a few blood streaks. The bed is a platform bed, so interceptors are out of the question. There has been no evidence anywhere in the past 11 days. Is it possible that we caught them early and killed them all? Or are we about to be invaded by a bunch of babies? The anticipation is awful!!
