Hello, I would love to get some advice from you guys on my situation!
I took a cross country road trip 2 days ago to move for my new job, and I'm pretty sure my family picked up some bed bugs from a hotel that we stayed in along the way. There were definitely fecal blood stains on the bedding but I didn't think much of it at the time. Next morning I woke up with multiple itchy bumps everywhere, and I saw some cast skins on my night clothes. I immediately put all of my clothing in plastic bags and tried to seal them off, but unfortunately since I was in the middle of a road trip I had to get back into the car and put my bags of clothes in my car that was already stuffed full of all of my things. After I got to my new apartment I couldn't keep all my stuff outside (there's no balcony), so I had to bring all my things inside the apartment, but I did immediately wash all my clothes from the hotel and dried on high heat. Several hours later I also put all the backpacks and shoes I had with me in the hotel room in the dryer on high heat (I hope I didn't wait too long and gave them a chance to craw to other places..)
Now I'm super paranoid and I don't know what to do! Technically I haven't actually seen any live bed bugs but i know you don't always see them and I really don't want to bring BB into my new apartment. I've been sleeping on my bedding on the floor since I don't have a bed yet and I don't have any couches yet either. My question is what should my next steps be? I will have my new bed and mattress delivered Wednesday--what should I do once it gets here? The rest of My clothes are actually already in plastic trash bags for the move and I haven't taken them out yet--not sure if they are contaminated or not since they weren't next to the bag of contaminated clothes from the hotel. Should I set up traps? Should I call an exterinator? I haven't confirmed that the bed bugs are in my apartment since I haven't seen any live ones. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
