Ok so I discovered a live bed bug about 2 weeks ago in our bed. I have done crazy amounts of reading on BB's as I thought we had them last summer, and it turned out the only thing I could find was carpet beetles. So of course part of me is scared that we've had them for the past year, and I should have listened to my instincts, as I am positive the 5 or 6 bugs I have found these past couple of weeks are bed bugs. I have ripped apart all bedrooms, steamed mattresses, DE everywhere, bagged clothes, used DE and Proof bed bug spray on bed frames, couches carpets.. All clothes and linens are to be washed and dried or at least going to run through dryer at very least before I return them. I haven't found and evidence of a fecal matter or eggs that I know of, and our box spring is older so it was really hard to see. I steamed it anyway and used DE on it. Encasements for my box springs and kids mattresses are on the way. I have had a hard time doing all this with two toddlers, so I've had to do it in steps over the course of two weeks when they are napping and in bed. I live in a single family home. And I have one room that is storage that is left to do, but got rid of almost all the clutter in there just gotta vacuum and put DE and spray. Though I wiped my kitchen counters down with spray and put some DE along floors and above cabinets, I haven't gone too nuts in there because I figure, why would they be in there when the bedrooms are upstairs, but I do have a cat and not sure if she's dragging them around the house. I can't afford exterminators and I just hope I am doing enough. Not finding their nesting spot is making me more paranoid though...where are they hiding?! Or is it just a light infestation? Found no evidence in my kids rooms but cleaned and DE everywhere anyway. Am I doing everything right? Sorry for the ridiculously long post, thanks in advance anyone who read this. I'm kinda going out of my mind 😔
