Hello, hello.
To sum up my situation: I'm a broke 22 year old recent college grad, living alone. My father passed away this January, and left me the house that I'm currently living in. I moved in mid February, but I did not start having problems with these little bastards until last month. I have no money for a professional. I live off of 1300$ a month waitressing at a local diner. I do not get government assistance, I don't even know how to go about even getting something like that or how long it would take. I live paycheck to paycheck. Not the most comfortable situation but until the bugs started biting I was relatively happy just getting by until I can afford to move into the city or get a job in my field. So in my case, at the moment, hiring a PCO for 800$+ is not an option for me.
A coworkers husband came and was willing to help me out, he's sprayed the house twice so far but they're still just spreading from room to room. I've been driving myself to the brink of insanity trying to get rid of these things. I've bagged and sealed everything, got rid of my mattress and box spring, my bedroom is practically vacant as I don't sleep in there anymore. I appreciate the kindness of my coworkers husband but I honestly don't believe what he's doing is working. I've used a hairdryer on places where I've seen them/found fecal matter. Cranked up the heat in the house when I left for work as I was told they didn't like heat. I've scrubbed and soaked the house in raid from top to bottom. Left my clothes, sheets, blankets and belongings in the sun and then in my hot car for almost two days. I havent had a good nights sleep in over a month and I'm covered in gross red itchy bites.
I feel so dirty and so lost and alone. I know I can be doing so much more but with my finances so limited I'm stuck choosing between food and bills as it is. There has got to be something that I can be doing that won't cost me my power getting shut off or me not eating for two weeks. SOMETHING. Or am I just too poor and have to live with it? I've even contemplated getting a second job just to afford to hire someone but I live about 40 minutes away from the city and there's not much work in the town I live in. 40 minutes away = extra gas money and well....there's another issue.
Are there any DIY methods that I haven't tried? I thought I did my fair share of research but I guess not. Should I be getting rid of my living room furniture as well?? This is starting to look more and more hopeless as the days go by..
