Okay... So, I came to visit family members for a few days. We are staying in a hotel. Once I got to my uncle's house, he tells us he has bed bugs. He says he's been working to get rid of them for two weeks, and no longer receives bites. Honestly, from the looks of things it seems he is not being very aggressive with it, since there are piles of clothes in one room, and it smells like the furniture has not been cleaned. My cousin got 91% rubbing alcohol and sprayed the couch and us before entering and after leaving. I only sat on the couch for half an hour. I know the alcohol can be useful when dealing with them once they've hatched, but I'm worried about any eggs that may have stuck. I haven't gone home yet, blso I have some giant ziplock bags to put everything into (luckily, I only had a bookbag full of clothes). I only brought my cell phone in with me. Should I still inspect my purse? I do not have the money to buy a packtite. My purse and wallet are leather. I can seal up my shoes and purse (as I have many others at hime), but I'd really like to keep my wallet (was difficult to find). I honestly cannot afford to get bedbugs, nor do I want to spend the time to deal with it, especially since I live in an apartment within a house. Bugs could easily spread to neighbors and the business above us. Would an inspection for eggs be sufficient? If I did find eggs, how do I get rid of them? Would my car be safe (I would be trveling for 10 minutes in my car wearing the clothes I had on the trip with everything else in the ziplock bags)? I should also add that I will be stuck with my clothes and purse for two more days and probably someone who's traveling with me will visit the bedbug infested home once or twice more before leaving. Should I worry about tranferring any eggs moving from place to place? Trying to be preventative and wondering if there is anything else I need to do? Thanks for any help.
