On March 23rd, I thought I saw a bed beg on a shirt I had worn to work the day before. I tried to kill the bug, but it fell off the shirt and I couldn't find it. I vacuumed and cleaned my entire bedroom. I purchased mattress encasements and climb ups for my bed and couch within a week.
I had a PCO come three times
-the first time he checked the bed, around the base boards in the bedroom and the couch and recliner in the living room. He found nothing. This was about two weeks after I saw the bug.
-the second time he did a more thorough search. He took everything off the bed frame, flipped the couch and recliner and checked under them both. This was month and a half later.
--the third time he checked the couch and bed. About three months after I saw the first bug.
He didn't find any evidence of bed bugs and said I was all clear.
I have checked the bedroom and living room frequently and haven't found any feces, blood, live bugs or skin casts. The only thing that could possibly be bed but related is a couple times I found a wet mud like substance on my finger that I couldn't explain. Both times were during the day.
I have been getting red dots and I thought they were bites, but with the PCO saying that I didn't have bed bugs three times over three months I finally went to a dermatologist and was told I had keratosis pilaris and capillaritis.
I have tried to calm down and have had some success with it, but still get anxious when I find a new red mark, I find a few new marks a week in random places. Sometimes they are pinprick sized and sometime they are like a pimple.
I realize logically it seems like my anxiety is all for nothing and as I said I'm getting better, but its still always in the back of my head.
I basically have two questions after this long story:
After four and a half months would I be finding evidence in the climb ups or on the couch/bed? I check them often and haven't found anything.
If I had them for this long would I only be getting a few bites a week? It seems like there would be a lot of bugs, especially since the summer has been pretty warm.
Thank you for any input.
