Okay, new to this. My mother's apartment complex became infested with bedbugs six months ago. We were extremely hypervigalant, did everything, however, neighboring tenants did not, and the landlord refused to do any kind of treatment that actually works. All she would do was call her regular pest control guy and he would come squirt a few squirts of stuff here and there and nothing ever changed, so the problem never went away. After months of dealing with this, I decided she could not live there ANYMORE. Her nerves were shot, she had developed extreme anxiety, lost massive amounts of weight from the stress of it. She cried all the time, she was devastated and has said that this experience was so traumatic that it ruined her life. So, I went to her apartment and we took very drastic measures. She basically moved out with the clothes on her back and her medication. What little clothing items she did bring, we took to the local laundromat, washed on hot, dried on high heat for over an hour, bagged up in space bags, all before taking to my home. Medicine bottles were inspected and put in ziploc bags. She threw away most everything she owned out of the sheer trauma of it all basically. She was terrified to keep anything. Items such as pictures, frames, books, other household things, were put in plastic bags, then in rubber maid bins and tape was put around lids. These bins were put in storage or in my garage. We have become so paranoid, our lives revolve around looking for signs that these horrible awful little creatures have not somehow came with her. It has been over two months. She moved into my spare bedroom. She threw out all of her beds and bedding and I bought her a new bed and bedding. We vaccuum in there daily. I used silicone caulking and caulked all around where the baseboards meet the wall. We have seen absolutely ZERO signs of any bugs. No feces, no blood, no bugs, no cast skins, NOTHING. It has been over two months. I clean constantly, sweep and steam mop other floors in home daily, they are wood and ceramic, we have no clutter. But, last night, after doing laundry, I found one dead small adult bug on my dryer on top of clean clothes. It was dry and brittle. I proceeded to have a total panic attack/breakdown. It is pretty much my absolute worst nightmare at this point after seeing what she went through and we have been so super careful, she threw away her entire life pretty much and started over! Nothing was moved with her, no electronics, no shoes, no bags, nothing. We bought her all new everything. I had gone to the garage earlier in the day and got a box of my winter clothes out to wash and dry, other than that, it was normal laundry that has been washed and dried countless times since she has moved in. HOW IS THIS HAPPENING!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I check her baseboards, where the carpet meets them, her box spring, her bed frame, her matress all the time with flashlights, I check CONSTANTLY. I have never seen a single sign of any bugs at all anywhere in my home. Where did this thing come from????
