I need help in determining if I have bed bugs or just book lice. I originally thought I had bed bugs. I was seeing nymphs (very small to what look like second - fourth stage size to me) around my apartment. I only live in a smaller one bedroom place, but I have seen the nymphs in all rooms and have found them on the floor, windowsill, under couches, in the bottom of my closet, in the bedroom on the floor and under my nightstand. I have seen them both during the day and at night. However, I have not seen any at the adult stage that would be big enough for me to feel confident in identifying as a bedbug. Also, I have not seen any clusters of the begs and have not found anything that i would call a "hiding place" so far. They just seem to be more randomly scattered throughout the apartment. As I said, I originally thought these were bedbugs. I have NOT seen any in the bed/bedding, in the mattress or box spring (I have checked the seems for bugs, fecal material, and shed casings), or on the headboard. Also, neither my fiance or I have experienced any bites. Until recently I did not know that book lice existed. But after researching extensively, the nymphs I have seen do appear (to my untrained eye) to have heads separate to their body and look more like book lice than bed bugs. The smaller nymphs look clear to a yellowish color to me and the bigger ones look a grayish brown color.
I am basically here to try to call my nerves and confirm what I think- that I have book lice and not bed bugs, but I'd like the opinion of someone who may know more or experienced something similar. Does this sound like book lice to others? Also, if it were bed bugs would it be odd to not be seeing any adults at all and only nymphs? Thanks for any and all help!!!
