I need information as much as possible I don't know what else to think or do. I need to know if this is common with BB, If anyone has experienced what I have. If there is something else I can do/check.
Around about 2 weeks ago out of no where I ended up with mysterious bite marks at this point it was only one. Close to my sock line and I wear ankle socks but its about wear my pants rise while sleeping. I also have a dog, I noticed she too started itching I thought fleas since I had missed a go round of her medications and she is allergic just as much as I am. Then after my husband gets off work that day I was told he has two on the back of his leg. I go no worried I am getting her medication tomorrow and I do so. Well my husband ends up with another one close to his sock line as well as one on his hand. I end up with one on my shoulder and one middle back. I have aliments where i am super sensitive to touch, sensations via fabric etc. I keep it cool in the house to boot. So I wear pants along with a tucked in tank and t-shirt over the top the bites on my back stumped me after sitting on the couch. So I began searching. It then dawned on me that I just purchased around 2-3 months ago a couch second hand. My wheels start spinning I start freaking out. I wash all bedding ours and the dogs. I washed all blankets. Pillows and pillow cases. I tear apart my bed because again I only noticed these upon waking in the AM. . I searched ever crevis I could from binding front and back on my bed. Looking for anything I could and then took a vacuum to ever crevis from carpet, seals, Baseboard area curtains etc. we also flipped the box spring. But we were not very through I decided to lay a fitted sheet over said boxspring because I do not have protectors on either let alone encasement's. Brilliant I know*sarcasm*That night I swear while I sat on the couch I felt something crawling on me I look nothing there. Ok its in my head but I notice a bite show up that said bite is still here 4 days later. Ok this is a little weird. I start searching every crevis of my couch. From the cushions around the zipper. Every crevis on the arm, under cushions, where the arm meets the bottom were people end up finding loose change. Yeah no loose change aside from 20 cents, old food kernals. Tobacco from my husbands rolled cigarettes pens and a some mystery childs half eraser. We then check the dust ruffle on the bottom all the way around nope nothing. Flip the couch and start peeling off the bottom dust cover or what ever its called and checking around staples inside etc at this point I knew to check these places because of google.. Advice to myself after I should have never dont that GROSS. Anyway... We come up clean long story short clean. Last night we take sheet off of box spring. We find nothing that seems similar to bed bugs again no casings, no live bugs. I then get to my side start freaking out crying and hyperventilating while my husband is staring at me like a loonatic. Going what?! I seen black dots so I decide to pick it up and place in a cap of peroxide you know google works great right? anyway it was black turns red doesn't really foam much. I freak so the ones i couldn't get up. I realize not one bit of it smears. nothing seems fresh no live bugs no casingsetc. so I get to down with a scrub brush and water/peroxide . Comes off pretty easily minimal effort. No where else I did notice this prior days ago didn't seem anythign out of the ordinary with me although i had seen it and vacuumed the area. Mind you my box spring is old like over 13 years old, It has mystery stains from kids and pets I can't even begin to describe from moving to cleaning and spillage to who knows. These are not tiny stains by any means and look clear like spills. Anyway I had a flat sheet under said box spring I had tucked up unto the fitted area, we checked all that no specks, spots, crawlies etc . We flip it dust cover gets ripped off bottom every beam, crack, crevis and spring gets checked. aside from a leaf who knows how got inside we find nothing. We live in a mobile home we moved in bran new never lived in about 9-10 months ago. Its just recently been starting to get pretty warm here where I live where it was below season temps for summer. I would say it is fair to say I have not seen a single flea jump. although it is hard to tell those suckers on the dog she has a thick black coat. She does display signs of fleas she is loosing fur, rather itchy, redness in her one ear etc nothing out of the ordinary when it pertains to that. we have gotten a couple new bites since this all started like I said roughly 2 weeks ago . Husband decides I am crazy nothing to worry about hes gonna sleep just in boxers and low and behold for 3 nights he gets zero and I mean zero new bites. I end up with one on my back under my shirt. Now my arms are open. again my pants rise up a little etc no bites there ok fine. I'm crazy I'll call an inspector we will find out what this is probably fleas until that get cancelled because i am told there is a huge outbreak in my area he is being quad booked 6 days a week he can't make it until Tuesday. He tells me it doesn't sound like bed bugs with all I have searched I ease my mind . We go to sleep my husband flips a lid and says he feels like something was crawling on his face I hurry flip on a light check every where NOTHING. 20 minutes later we go back to bed, I can't sleep I am laying in bed browsing on my tablet... I SWEAR I felt the same thing and this tiny itchy spot he hurrys we check again... NOTHING... Ok were both going nutts. Fine I need out of this house. Period I need out we come back , I decide to head out again run a few errands he stays planted on couch watching tv. Runs vac in living room for fur pick up while I am out I get in put things away sit on couch. I am fine, after awhile I feel an itchy spot on my arm. I ask him did you feel itchy at all any bites etc? He goes no. Ok fine must have happened while I was out. He steps outside to take the dog out. I am sitting here a good 20 minutes on the couch, back when this first started I by no means completely covered my couch but about 85% of the back where you rest, the cushions and the arms with a white sheet just waiting to find a flea a bedbug anything. Anyway. I feel itchy under my shirt I ended up with a bite upper middle back and again left shoulder under shirt we seen nothing, I seen nothing i felt nothing. General itching now and again . Husband and I feel general crawling sensations randomly. I have laid a flea trap didn't catch nothing water/dawn. I talked to inspector today told him everything hes convinced its not BB by the way I am talking every where i have looked ,and finding nothing. He said he can't tell me over the phone but by my stories having a dog, signs shes displaying he said could be something else. He listened to me rant and freak out about it all a few chuckles here and there. But here I am husband not worried, me freaking out. Were coming up clean about the only thing we have seen is a knat here and there or a fly. I have a cut on my lower wrist from doing dishes and a knife getting me, no bites in that area. So I said forget it I sit here longer, i end up with 3 on my arm. Yepp 3 tiny ones. Now I can say most of the bites we have gotten go away rather quickly. Still visible on me, 6 on my husband 3. Total prior I would say 7 for myself 4 husband. In the 2 week period. We have found nothing, I swear i am going crazy. I need a mental institution. I need to know if this is common with a new infestation. I have told said inspector everything with how and were we have searched what we have done he doesn't believe by my decription its worrisome with BB. Adice besides the easier said then done like calm down.
Is this common with new infestation?
Will it go this undetected with no evidence persay for 2-3 months and still not find something atleast dead alive casing etc? further more bites under clothes?
do they bite dogs? would they go after her in minimal infestation?
Is it possible to do this much searching including dust canister upon emptying outside from vacuum and not find anything?
What aside from bed bugs could cause bites? Knats? we have seen some Flys?
We have seen no fleas, I did tell inspector how I did trap but he said bowl was no big enough and I didn't add enough soap and try again tonight and tomorrow and let him know monday any new bites, signs we may find , if we catch fleas etc.
Places I have searched, Where carpet meets wall in every room that has carpet, Every crack and crevice of mattress, box spring, etc no headboard no frame box spring sits on floor. Checked nightstand, walls, hamper, Couch twice every nook and cranny no specs, spots, casings etc
I am at my wits end I feel like some how i over looked something but don't want to drive myself nutts. I think I already have. I am going to check boxspring again tonight to see if I see anything else last time until inspection if I do see anything I will update with pictures, I should have last night for better advice but again described to inspector he told me I shouldnt have messed with it but it didn't sound like that was feces from BB.
