I found this little bug on a blanket after I washed it, so it was already dead and probably deformed in the process, so I'm sure it's going to be difficult to identify. Is there anyway someone can tell me what this is anyway? I tried to get good pictures, but it was nearly impossible. I know it isn't an adult bed bug. I have found five adults. Is this what the nymphs look like?

Odd situation here - bought a house that was a foreclosure. Obviously lots of work! I got my daughter's new bedroom set up first - painted, new floor, bought cute bunkbeds off Craigslist (OOPS!). We wanted to give her a room to hang out in/play in while we finished the rest of the house. NO other furniture in the house yet and we aren't staying there full time. Put the bunkbeds in the room, had a sleep over a few days later and my daughter and I were both ATE up, head to toe. 3 doctor's appointments later, we decide to call the Orkin man to see what the heck we had. (At this time we thought maybe spiders or insects in the house). NOPE, bed bugs, carried in from my wonderful Craigslist purchase (how someone could sell bedbug infested furniture and sleep at night is another story!!!)

Orkin sales guy said - "oh we can treat" BUT when the guys showed up to do the work, they were very skeptical that the bunkbeds were salvagable. So we pitched them out the window and burned them. Orkin treated the room. At this point, the only room in the house with furniture in it is the one bedroom that we set up so my daughter could have somewhere to play while we worked.

On the advice of Orkin, we have slept in that room a few nights (still living at my rent house until we get this cleared) and no bites - and since my daughter and I both react strongly, I am sure there aren't bites. I am having Orkin come back to re-check.

BUT - Million dollar question here - when can I be confident the little suckers are gone? I need to move from my rent house into this house soon but I DON'T want to infest the rest of my furniture?
Did we catch them soon enough and react quickly enough to have a good shot of getting them gone?

I've told the full, horrible story of my 6 months of bed bugs in 2 previous posts, so I'll skip that and say that they have been confirmed repeatedly as bed bugs by multiple specialists (including 2 entomologists to confirm they were not BAT bugs), I have received a heat treatment and will soon be moving (carefully and after treating the moving truck with the few belongings I will be keeping) I give all of this prelude just to say that yes they are bed bugs, but for the past couple of months since my last treatment I have ONLY been finding them (at least one a day, sometimes more) in the dining room/kitchen area which is on the opposite side of the apartment as the bedroom?? The bed is isolated with monitors, nothing in them. The couch is also isolated and I've found nothing. My PCO is stumped other than to assume they're coming in from the neighbor I share the kitchen wall with, even though that unit was checked and "cleared" by management's crappy PCO. Has anyone else dealt with bbs in kitchens or odd places??? Any thoughts?

My son has been getting bites and I'm not sure if they are regular summer bites or bed bugs. We had bed bugs 6 months ago, I looked in his room and found one she'd casing or dead big not sure but it was in his carpet I'm thinking I missed it because it was under his bed where I can't really get to with a vacuum. Anyway, do these pictures look like bed bug bites?

Okay, I just found a bedbug. I am positive, as this is my second infestation, or the first never went away, I guess I don't know for sure. anyway, I am thinking of going with heat treatment this time, because I really just want them gone ASAP and I don't want to wait for chemicals to kill them over 3 months, I am done. I never want to see another bed bug EVER again. So...is heat treatment reliable? The company I was quoted by said they do heat treatment plus chemicals on door frames, baseboards, and furniture. They come back once a month for one year to retreat/inspect.

One extra piece of information: I have muscular dystrophy and am in a wheelchair 75% of the time,(my son is the same) so I'm hoping heat treatment will be easier for me because I wont have to do all of the laundry. Is this the case?

Fourth treatment June 1st. Last live sighting June 2nd (unfed baby on my nightstand). Daughter sleeping in her room and completely bite free since June 6th. Husband and I still finding occasional random bites but couldn't find any evidence. Passive monitor clean. Went 12 whole days without a bug sighting until I killed an engorged adult that was running across our bed the morning of June 14th. I stripped the bed, treated the bedding and sprayed the hell out of our frame, headboard, back of headboard and nightstands with Cirkil. We've been bite-free ever since.

I called our PCO to update him and he advised a fifth treatment in our bedroom only. He was scheduled to come re-inspect our house today anyway so he's going to inspect the rest of the house, which has been bug-free for over a month, and treat our bedroom. He's honestly puzzled about why the bugs persist, and if the fifth treatment fails he wants to re-inspect the upstairs and downstairs units. He'd declared them clear the last time he checked them but he can't understand how we're still finding even one live bug after four thorough treatments.

So we're inching ever closer to the end but not quite there yet. Hate having to start another countdown.

NY Bug Man on "NYC Canine Inspections"

We are following up on a few companies out here in NYC. After an inspection is done by the canine team the client calls us to treat and forwards us these reports. Almost all of the reports claim that "the canine has alerted on <insert item here> and that an alert is an indication of live bed bugs or viable eggs". No indication of if a visual confirmation is done.

Now we all know this isn't true. So now I have to take time off of our already busy technicians to do a visual and we never find anything. Does any other PCO in NYC 5 boroughs dealing with this? It's a little insane trying to explain to a customer that the inspection is positive ONLY IF VISUAL CONFIRMATION HAPPENED.

I am not painting with a broad brush as there are a lot of great canine firms out there and ones we do recommend. But there are a few who just seems to be giving out positives like pop corn.

Thoughts?

Found this bug in my bathroom. I don't think it is a bedbug, but I wonder if it is. If it isn't, could it be causing my bites? Thanks for any help!

My place has been treated twice, never found anything live or cases.

but I found stuff in the shared hallway. Sorry not the best photos, but best I could get.

Does any of this look BB related?

Ugh. Dealt with and eradicated a BB infestation about two years ago and have never been the same since. I live in Chicago, where it's starting to get hot and humid, and we had a pretty rainy couple of weeks about two, three weeks ago. Anyway, I woke up this morning with a cluster of four bites on my outer thigh, near my hip - PANIC TIME. I was, however, out running several times this week (in lightweight shorts) and also walked my dog in those same shorts two nights ago.

Of course, I didn't notice anything biting me when I was outside walking (I was probably outside for about 75 minutes total), but I have been bitten by outdoor pests in the past and not felt it. My only issue is that these stupid bites are in a cluster. Has anyone ever had a mosquito bite them several times in the same spot?

Things are slightly falling apart in my life right now - I have a family member hospitalized and in a very bad health situation - so the panic and money (and expense) of another BB scare is really not something I can deal with (not that there's ever a good time for one). I have probably spent upwards of $3,000 in BB sniffing dogs over the years and really don't want to shell out another few hundred bucks to get one over to my house again.

I hate bed bugs. :(

Edited to add: was just sitting here in my house and noticed a bug flying around (I have my back door open so my dog can walk in and out as he pleases). I swatted it away, then took a closer look. Holy @%&! I think it was a mosquito in my house. I managed to kill it. Is this a dead mosquito? (sorry that the quality isn't so great - working with an iPhone here and I smashed the bug a little bit when I killed it).

Hi this is a post to give you an example. I caught a bed bug last night and kept it in a baggy. I noticed it pooped in there so figured I would post a picture of the "bed bug fecal matter" since it's so hard to know what it is! The perfect round spot is the fecal stain, next to a regular paper clip. Of course the bug next to it is a bed bug who we believe ate 2 nights ago.

Since treating the apartment with DE and encasing the beds I haven't gotten bitten. In the last two weeks (including this morning) I've had 3 sightings. Two juveniles and one adult at different times, unfed. So today me and my husband did some serious cleaning in search of the source of these damn bed bugs. In my previous posts, I stated how I was lost and confused because I had encased my mattress and box spring, checked my entire room, couch, wooden night stands, steam popped floors, vaccumed EVERYTHING and wiped all wooden surfaced down with alcohol wipes. And I we don't have much furniture in our apartment. After washing and drying ALL of our clothes we've been living out of plastic, zip close bags for two weeks so far.

Before I encased my mattress and box spring and pillows, the night before I did drench all of it in alcohol (a temporary but affective solution, also kills single ones well on contact) then after letting it dry, the next day my landlord put DE inside the encasements and everywhere in my apartment, couch, cabinets and drawers, and just thrown the stuff ontop of everything in my closet.

SO,
While cleaning today I grew some balls and checked my mattress and box spring, nothing, the encasements were clear.. So figured, the bed frame! Nothing in the bed frame but I vaccumed it anyway. Confused, I thought of how I learned in my "3Am tired and afraid bed bug research" that bed bugs love clutter.
.. the closets.
Took everything out after vacuuming and steam mopping my entire apartment and furniture to relay down some new DE.
FOUND TWO NESTS, one in each closet. I vaccumed them throughly then immediately threw out uneeded items in garbage bags before taking them out to the alley . then sprayed with alcohol and let dry. I'm going to recover with more DE.
I had my son who is due in August's crib mattress in one closet. I see blood stains they must've been feeding off my poor cat who sleeps in there! It's hard covered so I cleaned it with alcohol wipes and wrapped it in plastic. I'm going to put DE inside of it and in the plastic before I can get an encasement

QUESTION: The maintainence man who is supposed to come relay over the apartment with DE gave me a bottle with a hose and spray cap called "Hot Shot Flea & Bed bug killer".. should I use this? Will it make the problem worse? PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP

Assuming a minimum temperature of 18 Celsius and a regular meal, how long will a bedbug live on average?

I'm highly disturbed by what I found under my bed while cleaning. It looks like some sort of bug gave birth or mating process . Clearly it's dried up blood and an imprint in the center that seems to be the shape of an egg. The size was about 1 inch to 1.5 inches. It's gross! Bed bug? Tick? Flea? Spider? Some other bug idk.. I've never seen anything like it. Have you?

I don't have a photo for ID as I kind of got anxious and pretty much tore it apart last night..

It was dead on my window seal that is beside my bed. I picked it up and immediately thought spider. Legs were super long and thin. Body had almost 2 round distinct segments about the same size. Back end was a tad larger. Small though.

I know you can't give 100% ID without a picture but it would be nice to know if any spiders when smashed would produce a decent amount of bright red blood. I know it wasn't a mite. Legs were not right for that. Way too long and thin. Looked almost string thin.

In my rational Mind I know it wasn't. I am pretty good at IDing them for the most part. Bed check and window seal check was clear.
I wouldn't be freaking out so much had it not popped blood so much when squished. Please someone just confirm for me this can happen with spiders..
