I posted a question on Yahoo Answers with a picture of what I suspect to be bed bug fecal stains because they look like little black spots and someone said that they definitely look like bug fecal stains of some kind and to put a drop of water on them and if they turn a brownish reddish color than they're bed bug fecal stains. Is this true? Has anyone heard of this?

Hi all.
I am so sorry for all the questions.
We have confirmed bedbugs. Supposedly minor infestation. No treatment date set because of fighting over paying.
Will vacuuming drive them further into new nests and thus be inadvisable without other measures simultaneously or will that be ok to keep doing?
If a PCO doesn't do a full inspection, just bed areas, after seeing a nymph...is that normal, or lazy?
Brij719 on "Help me out please, going crazy."
So back in July we had a heat treatment done for bedbugs. Only ever found 1 bug and never found a harborage. They did heat treatment with residual chemical and chemical treatment in our unfinished basement, kitchen and bathroom. I was having skin reactions mainly on my back area, that looked more like a rash than bites, and suffered a pretty bad bite on my arm. I'm not sure what my exact reaction to actual bedbugs was...I also had a few very itchy hives appear and go away.
We had 2 follow up visits, and were given the all clear. We were told we could buy a new couch(which we planned on anyway), and use the new bed we had not yet put in the bedroom. Our new bed is a heavy memory foam mattress atop a metal frame with wood slats, no headboard. I have had a passive on since June, which I never saw a SINGLE spot on. It is now on my new bed, on the wood slats, and still remains clean. My husband says he has no reactions, and suffer bad acne on back and arms so couldn't tell any marks apart from those. I check my pure white sheets once a week and lift the mattress to check the passive. I have looked at the wooden slats and seen nothing, I have checked the white curtains and behind the dresser across from the bed, and my new couch seems to be clear as well(although it is a sectional and VERy heavy to tip up and look under, I do check behind it and under cushions).
I am going crazy because I still have skin reactions and do not know what to think. I am under warranty with my PCO and have contacted them. They said they could bring a K9 but I would have to pay. Should I do this, or just assume my skin reactions are from something else and see an allergist instead? Should I also assume that since my treatment was July 12th that we would definately be able to see some signs by now?
Also to add- I sleep in a tight t-shirt tucked in to long pants( I'm freaked to expose too much skin after all this). I have also had atleast 3-5 skin reactions/day.
ParanoidGirl33 on "Treating luggage?"
My parents are currently in Vegas and I am just trying to limit any possibilities of bringing anything home since I'm already going crazy about the other exposure. Anyway, my mom brought a flashlight and has inspected the bed and nightstand nightly and kept the luggage in the tub to be extra safe. Once they're home I plan to put all the clothes in a trashbag and then carry in and toss in the wash/dryer. I bought bed bug spray for the luggage and planned to just spray the luggage, bag it in big trashbags and keep it outside for a few month? I know a lot of this is probably overkill but I don't want to take any chances. I saw they have bed bug proof suitcases now, I think I'll need to get one of those soon
squidliest on "In general, how long does it take a bed bug infestation to manifest itself?"
A question about bed bug biology, I'm curious how long it takes them to establish a considerable colony somewhere. Of course, I know every case and even every bed bug is different, but in general, if you picked up one or two bugs somewhere and brought them home, how long until their presence would be obvious? That is to say, how long would it be until bites become regular, adult bugs can easily be found in the mattress or box spring, etc. I know an individual bed bug or even just a few can bite erratically and hide extremely well, but I have seen people asking about infrequent bite marks over periods as long as a year, and I'd like to know at what point it is rational to say, "If you had a breeding infestation, there would be more evidence than just bites by now."
Pokemom on "Canine inspection today found nothing. Just saw 1 on babystroller"
Helo. I'm new. And trying to be brief. I'm a single mom. I left an abusive relationship last summer. Although I had an apt I paid rent on, I lived with him. After spending the summer in a shelter we moved back into my apt. The building is being converted to homeless housing. They live as if they are still in the street.we had bed bugs in Feb. I have OCD and keep things spotless. My daughter is 1 and was just diagnosed with ASD this month. She also keeps things spotless. In Feb I saw bites but pest control checked and found nothing. Only she was getting bit. Our place is a tiny 100sq ft studio. So I guess I don't respond, because I woke to change her diaper and foun d 3 on her. After 1 treatment in April we were clear.
Fast forward to now. 3 weeks ago I saw bed bugs on a couch in the common room of my building. I told management but it took 2 weeks for them to believe me. They got rid of it. I never use the chairs in the complex and carry my own. I have for 4 years since I am so paranoid about bugs. I was washing rugs that don't go into the dryer. When I was in the laundry room I saw live bed bugs and then found one that night on the bathroom rug that was just washed. I bagged it in a contractor bag.
Last night I thought I saw a bed bug in the dirty laundry. I keep the clothes hamper in the tub since my apt is so small. I sorta freaked sprayed a whole can of raid and stayed up all night watching. We had a canine inspection today. The entire building was checked because of the homeless people and the couch.
I passed. I don'tt have a bed. Can't afford one. I have a spine fracture from My abusive ex and even know the pain is intense I'm too afraid to buy a bed. My daughter is in a play yard as a bed. They found nothing. I made them spend extra time and even had bagged items from April checked. They were clear but I still tied the bags up and put them back out of reach. The only thing was one of the dogs, they had a few because they checked the entire building, was I interested in my stroller. The other dog wasn't. They checked and saw nothing. They said maybe he was looking at food. The dog wasn't doing the normal response. Just wanted to sniff extra long.
Just now I saw a bed bug on the stroller. Just one. I tore it apart. I bagged everything washable. The laundry from earlier where I thought I saw one was bagged but the dog checked it anyway and didn't find anything. So now I have 2 bags but I didn't do my entire place. I'm in too much pain. Plus I have court in the morning for child custody. With all that's going on I can't deal with bed bugs again.
Is it possible that there was just the one? All the paperwork and diapers I put in the freezer. I know I should toss it but I have not got a child support payment in 2 months. I was at the food bank Monday. Normally I don't need it. I used that stroller there. Maybe it came from there. And the papers are for her Austim ABA appointment so I can't toss them . I'm lost. I saved the one I found to show management because they never believe me. But what now. Do I need to do the entire place again. Im behind $300 in rent already. It cost 200 to wash the laundry alone last time.
I can't deal with this tonight. Not with court, my spine fracture, her ASD. Its too much.

Hi all,
The main site (Bedbugger.com) -- which houses FAQs and other resources as well as the blog --was down for about 1/2 hour from 2am EST Friday, due to a technical issue which is now fixed.
Sorry if you tried to follow a link to a FAQ or anything during that time and it didn't work, but everything should be good now.

I cannot find any trace of BB, but keep getting bit. I have found this bug twice, one alive, and one dead (this one). It seems that its mouth has a needle, and was able to bite. Is that true? and What could it be? Thank you so much.

_amanda143 on "Are these bug bites? (with pics)"
My 11 year old son has a few red itches on his body, one on his left arm and two on the surface of his stomach. There might even be one on the inside his belly button (he says it's itchy and it looks a bit red) but I haven't found the bite yet - its hard to see because his belly button is too deep. Anyways, here are a few pictures:
In this picture, you can see the two "bug bites" on his belly, as well as the redness around his belly button. Also notice that his belly button is a very deep "innie" so a bite inside it would be hard to see:
Here's another picture:
In this picture, you can't see the bug bites but you can see the redness around his belly button.
So, do you think these bites are caused by bed bugs? My son does sleep with his shirt off, so his stomach would be quite accessible to bed bugs. Perhaps a bug managed to crawl over his arm, onto his stomach and eventually found its way into his belly button.
I have never found a bed bug in his bedroom, but you guys are probably know how to recognize bites better than I do.

Hello!
I found these two bugs underneath my AC unit next to my bed, along the baseboard of the wall. We are currently treating a cockroach problem, but they don't look like cockroach nymphs to me. Just want to confirm before assuming we have another problem on our hand. Please help to identify!
CursedAngel on "Invisible Crawling all day, itching, few bites, What is it?"
Hello all, this last month has been so eventful for me that I feel as if its not wrong for me to have more then one bug.. I may be wrong though! About 2 weeks ago, I started to get bites around my ankle, and one on my left ankle,, the bites were very small and itchy ( about 3-4 bites) I actually didnt think much of it until I started to itch and notice that I had a few bites near the back of my knee on my right leg... the night where gears started to turn in my head(3nights after noticing), I researched online and read stories and solutions for bed bugs, fleas, etc, I searched around my bed for bed bugs and discovered behind the bedboard against the wall, Carpet beatle larva, both dried and new. I left it be and was relieved that I didnt have bed bugs... The next day I had an exterminator come to check the room for bedbugs, He looked over the bed, bedboard, boxspring(whatever it is you call it). I told him about the beatles and he said I def have them, there was a bunch of stuff under my bed that he told me to clean for a spraying that I green light'd for the next day. That night I took the mattress and boxspring out of the room and put all of the junk from under the bed in boxes and put it in my garage, after looking at my walls, ceiling, and crevace between the wall and the carpet, I must have collected 13 larva and an actual dead beatle. The exterminator came and he sprayed, that night I put the bed back and put all of the newly washed sheets on etc I sleep, no signs of biting/ itching. The next day I put on my jeans which I wash once every week and a half and I feel a crawling sensation in various places and various times
what I havent mentioned was that before I discovered the beatle larva and beatle, I found about 7 Blue Jay feathers while walking in allaire state park, and placed them on a shelf on my desk.
The crawling feeling continues, but not severe, every once in a while I'll itch, but mostly my feet itch, especially while wearing socks. I wasnt thinking bird mites until After I collected 5 huge feathers from a hike at allaire a week later(which I picked up using a plastic bag) I ended up l[b]eaving the bag of feathers in my car, I after still feeling the crawling sensation during the day, but more prevelant at night reasearched more and think I have a mite or some sort, I took the feathers out of my room and disposed of them, but after wearing clothes that have been in my room, I now almost always feel as if I have bugs crawling on me , I've been sleeping in my bed and now discover a bite or two every morning, not sure if that is connected to the crawling feeling or Im dealing with two different bugs.. It seems to have gotten worse over time... Im cleaning out my car tomorrow because I remembered how I left the bag of feathers in it, and I've realized that just sittinf in my car, I feel biting and crawling sensations more then just walking down the street..
I keep going back and forth with it being mites or bed bugs, two nights ago I found a small cream/ white colored bug crawling beneath my pillow, I took a piece of tape to save it, but now looking at the tape, he seems way smaller then when I first saw him under the pillow he resembled book lice kinda, but could it be a nymph? Are they really that tiny, also last night I stayed in the city, I changed into clothes that I packed to go to a party and started feeling crawling sensations after all day from not feeling them as much, it started really acting up to the point where I felt like I was getting bit(around 11:00-3AM).......UGHHHHH just writing all this is frustrating, Im the most mellow easy going relaxed guy you would ever meet, but this whole fiasco has brought me nightmares and paranoia which I never expierenced before... CAN SOMEONE CONFIRM ANYTHING ?! Is this all because of the carpet beatle hairs? Do I have bird mites? I've literrally read almost everything on the web, and the exterminator denies my 3 bites on my ankle of bed bugs(which havent gone away, and occasionally itch) but I feel like I have them... This all has only been happening for about 2 and a half weeks...
Someone anyone help.. I'll send you and your family greatness <3

elgee on "Passive monitors"
I had my first chem treatment about 2 weeks ago. My next treatment is next Friday. I'm going to buy passive monitors to put under my bed legs soon so I can start monitoring now that treatments have started. But I'm wondering if I should wait until after my second treatment to place them? Is there a time I should wait to place them after treatment? I know after treatment 1, I found several dead bugs, presumably after they crossed poison. I don't want to panic myself after treatment 2 if the remaining bugs go into the monitor as they're dying. Should I wait a few days? A week? To place the monitor or is it resonable to put it out as soon as I get the monitors?
Also I have a couch. The legs seen like they'd be too big for a monitor like my bed would use. Are there other monitoring options? Its a black couch and I'm very paranoid that I am just not seeing the bugs/larvae.

DeterminedInOhio on "Fighting the Good Fight in Ohio - Technical Question"
Hello all!
I hope you are doing better than I am! I discovered I had bed bugs around the end of August, and have been struggling with getting rid of the nasty things ever since. A year ago I purchased and moved into an old Victorian that I have been slowly rehabbing - I mention this because the house is basically a bed bug's dream. I am still stripping off paneling and old wallpaper- so, plenty of great places for the bugs to hide.
I think I have a relatively small infestation. I am not seeing the things that others have described in this forum (bugs everywhere, running walls, etc). I have not seen them in any other room besides the bedroom. Since I am renovating still, I don't really hang out anywhere besides the bedroom and I have not yet bought a couch - so there is no upholstered furniture elsewhere in the house, thank god!
So far I have:
I have sprayed Bedlam Plus and doubled bagged the mattress and box springs in bed bug encasements.
- Dusted many times with DE. (Just read about Cimexa - I think I will order some of this to replace the DE.)
- Sprayed Bedlam Plus in the bedroom (all corners of the room, doorways, edges of paneling, fireplace, baseboards, mattress and box spring encasement seams, all corners and crevises of the head and footboard)
- Put down interceptors filled with DE
My first spray was on the 22nd but I did not buy sufficient product to be completely thorough (I just used 2 cans of Bedlam Plus for the bedroom).
My second was on the 29th and I really hit all possible spots in the room (3 cans). Since that spray I found one nymph yesterday and one nymph today. Does this mean that I have not found all the harborages? Or does it sometimes take a moment for all of the bugs to die? I am no longer seeing any visible bites on my person.
Tonight or tomorrow I plan to rip all the paneling down in this room - something I had planned to do anyways but it was just low on the priority list in the larger picture of the renovation. And I have enough Bedlam for at least two more treatments, which I had planned to do every two weeks to make sure everything is dead.
Can you advise? Did I miss a spot if I am still seeing a nymph per day.
Thanks!
