I've come to the conclusion that SOMEDAY I won't have bed bugs anymore, but it seems like a dream. We noticed bites in November on all three of our kids who share a room. After two days of bites of knew something wasn't right. Had a sinking feeling it was bed bugs, lifted up my sons mattress (it's an ikea bunk bed and it lays on the floor) and found about 20 dead bugs stuck to the bottom in some tape that was there. If that tape hadn't caught them I'd have never found anything. We've NEVER seen a live bug. Ever. Never seen blood....I've only ever seen dead bugs and a few casings. Fast forward two weeks, we had a pest control company come inspect (found nothing) and a few days later do a heat treatment. Two days after heat treatment my daughter woke up with bites. Three days after heat treatment my husband woke up with bites. Two weeks later they came back out and did another heat treatment. Two and a half glorious weeks went by...NOTHING. No bites, no itching.....I actually started relaxing and sleeping again at night. Then 2.5 weeks later, my daughter woke up with a single bite. Within 5 days all my kids were being eaten alive again. My 3 year old son now has over 30 bites on his body and is crying saying "I want to move!" I'm going insane. Pest control is saying "there's no way." I'm saying "YES there is." We still have seen nothing. Can't find them. I've ripped my house apart numerous times. I've never seen a live bug like I said and that's almost driving me more insane than anything else. WHERE ARE THEY???? It's like the most aggravating thing i've ever dealt with. I just want them gone. Please tell me how you've finally eradicated them and that your mental health is intact!

I have been getting a rash on and off which I thought was from dry skin but since I had bed bugs in 2009, I'm super paranoid and have been monitoring daily. Tonight as I was getting ready to go to sleep, I noticed this...it's really tiny and is flat. I tried to smudge it to see if it streaked and it didn't really... help, please?

I tried to smudge it out even more and took this one..

20170129_011122 by HelpDEANN, on Flickr

I'm freaking out over here... :(

Also, I checked the passive monitor and found nothing. I'm worried that I've checked it too many times since I installed it... What should I do?

First, confirmed bed bug infestation discovered first part of Dec 2016 with several found on the bed and sheds found in the bathroom, as well as 2 live bbugs caught biting me.

The bed: I have a large heavy wood bed frame and cannot treat it or the mattress because they are too heavy and bulky for me to manage on my own. So I sprayed the areas I could see and puffed Cimexa under the frame, and around the mattress from the outside. Basically the underside of the bed frame and floor under the bed has a layer of Cimexa. Legs of the bed sprayed with residual and carpet around them dusted with Cimexa.

In order to prevent bites and get sleep I draped the whole bed with a sheet of painters plastic. I dusted Cimexa under the plastic and routinely spray risidual on the edges. I have not been bitten since doing this. I also isolated myself from bites when working at the desk and relaxing so I haven't been bitten since first part of Dec.

In Feb I will have enough money to replace the frame and mattress so I can properly maintain them and put interceptor traps on the legs.

My question is: When I get the new frame it will have been 2 months since I began treating the bed with sprays and Cimexa and isolated myself from bites. What are the chances there are live bugs still on the bed?

(Also, any bbugs coming or going to the bed would have to travel through Cimexa . And the rest of the house is treated with spray and Cimexa.)

I've been battling a mild case of bed bug infestation and have had heat treatment. This morning I woke up with a small itch on my back and found this little booger that could potentially be a bed bug egg? Please refer to images and help me ID if this in fact a bed bug egg!

Thank you!

Never knew I had these until one of my kids saw one then I knew what it was. That was in my old apartment. The landlord did a heat treatment with Orkin and trust me when I say that did not work. My kids kept getting bit on my couch, the guy came back 4 times and still they got bit and finally he quit responding to my calls. I also got kicked out because of it so I moved and did not bring anything except my PC stuff a table that was brand new and a few other things, made sure I washed everything and checked it all. I am now in a house and have no furniture and will be buying new very soon but I first want to make sure I did not bring any with me. I have lost sleep, the first night I found them I did not sleep at all for 2 days. God help us all that have these nasty things.

It's been 90 days since I've seen any evidence of bed bugs. I still inspect frequently and am careful about washing and drying the clothes I'm wearing as soon as I get home, but have returned to normal for the most part.

Today I found this stain on a bed sheet and I'm just wondering if it's just a random stain or if it's bed bug related. Hopefully I'm just being overly cautious, but better safe than sorry I guess.

Thanks in advance for any help that is given.

I have found positive proof of bed bugs in my teenage son's room. We found out that he spent the night at a friend's house back in Septemeber and that apartment building was treated for bed bugs a few weeks later. We're thinking the bed bugs hitched a ride in his overnight bag and that's how they got in the house. We can only see visible proof of bed bugs in his room.

However, my son shows no visible bites, nor do I. My husband, however, is covered with bites and appears to be having an allergic-type reaction, almost like hives, near the bites. We went to a dermatologist and he said it definitely appears to be bug bites. All 3 of us were examined and he only saw bites on my husband.

We have Terminix scheduled to come tomorrow to definitively tell us if it's bed bugs or not. I'm pretty sure it is bed bugs. I see them on the side of my son's mattress and there was a nest of them behind a felt pennant on his wall right next to the beg. The eggs & bugs in varying stages (I used a magnifying glass) looked like the pictures I found online.

How is it possible that the bugs are only in my son's room, but my husband is bitten all over? I can't find any sign of bed bugs any where else in the house. I stripped all the bedding in my son's room, put it in plastic bags and discarded it. The rest of the bedding & clothing in our home, I took to the laundromat and washed on hot water and dried on the hot cycle in the commercial dryers. Blankets, bedding, clothing, everything.

We are planning on buying the bed encasements from Terminix since we bought brand new mattresses back in 2013. Prior to knowing about the bed bugs, we bought new furniture a few weeks ago (still awaiting delivery).

Is it possible that my son & I are being bitten and just show no signs of bites?

I am new here and experienced this nasty bug a few months ago in my old apartment and actually got evicted because of it and they tried to force me to pay for the treatment. I was instantly hated by every person in the building and never talked to again, also the lady above me became very loud and stumped at all hours. So I assume they blamed me because I was the first one to report it to the landlord.

So they hired Orkin, would not have been my first choice. They did a heat treatment and sprayed but my kids kept getting bitten on our couch. They came back 3 or 4 more time and still they got bit. Went through all the setup and preparing that they want you to do and still they persisted. Finally the Orkin people quit answering my calls after I told them that whatever it was they were doing was not working. So then it came time for me to move because as stated I got kicked out. Paid my rent early every month and was never late but still I was blamed for the bedbug issue because I was the first to say something about it.

I did not take anything but my new table and chairs and clothes and a few other items, no couch bed or other furniture. I pray that none of those little bastards followed me but I have a feeling they did.

I am going to buy a steam cleaner, steamer
I have learned from the endless hours researching this nasty beast that a steamer is the ONLY true way to eradicate them forever and you have to do it monthly.

Pray for me and pray that they did not follow me here to my new house. I will not buy anything new until I get the steamer and will steam every month for the rest of my life even if I don't see them again.

Hi all - I had a suspicion of bed bugs and it was confirmed by a canine. I have a 1br apartment and the dog only found them in the bedroom near the bed - he smelled the closet and living room and kitchen and nothing.

The earliest they could come is in 5 days. I keep a clean house but now am super eager to throw things away, de-clutter and clean in advance of them coming. As I live in an apartment I am sensitive to not using the shared laundry or trash services. I am planning on gathering up things I want to throw out and then calling a private company to come get them.

Do you guys have other recommendations for how to prep for a heat treatment? Are there things - like books - I should bag or throw away knowing that heat can be hard to penetrate? Would I be going overboard by throwing things away outside of the bedroom where they found the bug? And finally, they only found 1 bug. The pest control people said it is likely a low level infestation. Am I crazy to think it could only be 1 bug? It's the only way I can sleep at night. :(

Basically any advice you guys have to prep, clean and prepare for a thermal treatment to make it most useful would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hello so I had a bit of a scare last week when i woke up and found some blood stains on my sheets. I found this forum searching on line and initially thought maybe it was due to my extremely sensitive skin (i suffer from several dermatological conditions and haven't noticed anything that resembles their bites) So i washed the sheets thoroughly vacuumed my bed (rug mattress etc) washed any dirty clothing that was around at the time. I've also been dutifully checking both my sheets and mattress each morning. There have been no new blood stains so far (about 7 days total since first discovery) but today i found these stains on the mattress and one wooden slate and am worried they my be fecal stains. I also noticed these spots around some screws in my bedroom closet. This could be me just being paranoid but I'd appreciate any input on what you think they are? Finally last month I traveled home to visit my parents for the holidays my mom has had bed bugs before but assured me that she had not had a recent outbreak. I spent one evening over at her home- I didn't bring any luggage with me just their gifts and a change of clothes, upon returning to the other place i was staying the next day immediately washed and dried all the clothing i wore there including wiping the bottoms of my boots with alcohol wipes before entering the other house. Should i be worried?

We've been wondering if we have bed bugs for many many months now. Namely because we encounter bites on our hands, arms, and back. They are small red dots. They're somewhat frequent but never left in clumps and they never hurt. Not like mosquito bites. Much smaller. We HAVE found blood on the bed a few times. Never in lines or in multiples. Like a little drip here and there. Very mysterious. We haven't found any fecal matter on the sheets or mattress.

My question is: If it were bed bugs, and as I said-it's been 3+ months-, wouldn't they be leaving more evidence by now? For example, biting in larger numbers, and leaving more blood and black stains? Like eventually I'm going to know for-sure they're here, right?

I don't want to contact my landlord unless I have evidence. And minor to moderately frequent bites to a small little blood stain every other fortnight isn't quite compelling enough. Am I wrong to hold off? Is it more likely dust mites or fleas? And if it is dust mites- do I just deal with it? The whole unit was sprayed for booklice 4 months ago. So I do find dead woodlouses on a semi regular basis

Thanks for your feedback

Have all of you that put down Cimexa and DE use a respirator. If so can you recommend one that will keep the dust out. All I can seem to find are masks for odors. Not sure those will work.

Cliffs: Are these potential bed bug fecal stains on a meditation cushion? Any advice is much appreciated.

Longer details: I was traveling and returned on the 10th of this month. Shortly after getting back, I sat on my meditation cushion which I had put together with another cushion that I had brought back with me from traveling, and when I lifted it saw what looked like either a never fed nymph or a book louse moving very quickly. I also noticed that I was getting bitten regularly: it seemed to mostly be at night, but a few times I felt like I was getting bitten during the day. I also had some breakfast/lunch/dinner spots, but also some that didn't follow that pattern (I would sometimes notice only one bite).

I installed lightsout bedbug detectors (interceptor style) on the bed posts on the 14th, and haven't caught any bugs since then. My mattress has always had a bedbug proof cover as well, and I now have white sheets on my bed, which don't have any marks. I think I may have still been getting bitten despite the detectors, although I can't really remember.

On the 18th, a PCO from Orkin came in, checked my room, said there was no evidence for bed bugs, and sprayed the bottom of the wall near my bed (something board, forget what it's called). I then didn't seem to get bitten until yesterday, when around 9am I sat on the meditation cushion for the first time since the PCO came, and got several bites, which I didn't notice until several hours later (early afternoon). I took the cover off the cushion, and saw two black spots as in the image. While the bites seem to fade extremely quickly (sometimes they disappear in minutes or hours after I notice them) and aren't that bothersome, I really don't want it to spread to my neighbors as I live in student housing with many people nearby. Advice is appreciated!

Single house family of 5. We found bed bug about a week before Christmas 2016. We freaked out and uneducated. We did a lot of cleaning and spraying of over the counter bedbug spray. I read a lot and know now that this might have worsen the situation (v.v). After uneducated self-treatment fail, I hired an PCO who came and sprayed chemical twice now, 10 days apart (He will be spraying the 3rd time tomorrow). We originally only find bed bugs in 2 rooms, mine and my parents. But a few days ago, i found an adult one in the basement, tonight, i found one just walking down the hall way. I have never seen them anywhere other than in the two bed rooms.
I read about the passive monitor in the forum and that makes a lot of sense.
I understand that we might have made some kind of mistakes that might have spread them out (I can't tell you how hard I wanna kick myself). But if I buy and install the passive monitor on all beds in the house now, Will bed bugs be moving into those as they are closer to food source? What chance to I have to get rid of them now?
Please help me!!
Also, here is a picture of the bug I have for identification:

Found a few black spots on our printer and floor in our bedroom. Checked our bedding did not see any spots/eggs/ casings in our bed. Checked wall crevices and shelves for any spots and moving creatures. Did not find any.Had a major infestation a year and a half back. But bug free for more than a year after 4 rounds of pest control and extensive clean up. Will try to upload the pic of the spots. We do have an issue with bird mites. The whole apartment building has. My question is do any other bugs also leave such black spots. I am completely panicked. Thanks
