Quick history- We found bed bugs in early July. We had our house sprayed by a local company. They came to spray again two weeks later. We did not really see much for evidence after that, but I decided to have the house sprayed one more time about 6 weeks later by Orkin because my 18-month-old son had gotten some very itchy bites while napping and I wasn't taking any chances.
It has been 5 weeks now from our last spray and I have seen nothing for evidence. Not even a dead bug. No fecal spots that I can identify. I check his crib twice a week and change his sheets. I check his mattress, his sheets, his mattress cover, and so far I can't say I have found anything. Unfortunately he has been waking up either in the morning or from naps with the occasional red spot on his face. I immediately think bed bugs. I have kept a list of these spots because as of right now, that's all I have for "evidence". I called the Orkin guy back and talked to him about it. I even sent pictures. He told me that he showed them and everyone there agreed they did not think bed bugs. Of course, that really doesn't do much to help ease my mind.
It is usually one red spot at a time. Only once did he get two spots. These spots seem not to itch. He doesn't scratch at them. They are usually on his forehead or cheek. The rest of his body is covered when he sleeps. They have a tiny bump right in the middle with some redness around it. They usually disappear in a day or two. It happens maybe 2-3 times a week. Do these seems like typical bed bug bites? I know it's hard to say as everyone reacts differently, but I'm driving myself nuts here. Both my husband and the Orkin guy said to put it behind me, but I can't seem to do that. I just don't know what else it could be. Am I just driving myself insane? How long would it take for me to actually start seeing some evidence if they were still around?
