I posted here about 6 weeks ago. 6 1/2 weeks ago my toddler found a single bug at 10pm crawling on a couch pillow. I trapped it in tape and started the freak out. The following morning I called for a canine sniffer and found bites on my back, presumably from when I slept on that couch a few days before.
The single bug was an adult, unfed male.
The sniffing dog gave alert to two recliners in my parent's apartment downstairs from me. My toddler spends several hours per day there. He alerted once on the toddler bed frame (not mattress), and then just general interest in other items. We tore everything apart looking for stains/casts/etc.
Being newbies to bugs and totally freaked out, the recliners were disposed of as well as the toddler frame.
Climb ups were installed on the beds, anything soft was dried and bagged, and we put up pheromone traps (scensci?) in each bedroom (both apartments) and under each couch.
6 1/2 weeks later - no bugs in any climb up or trap. No bites, no fecal stains, no casts, nothing! Had that bug not been found, I'm not sure we would have ever known! Does this mean we never really had a problem? Off chance that the few bugs we had were taken away with a recliner? How long before I can feel like we were SUPER lucky?
