We had an infestation in the summer of 2010. I got bit for 2-3 months before we found the majority of the bugs in our box spring. We had an uncooperative apartment landlord at the time so we did the best we could and vacuumed and decluttered, and encased our box spring. I was finding a handful of nymphs on the walls for a couple weeks that I caught. Bite reactions stopped but I remained vigilant for months and months, convinced they were still around. We never saw any sign after that and moved to our current apartment in the fall of 2014.

Fast forward to mid November and I got a cluster of alarming bites. Since then I have been going absolutely nuts examining every crack and crevice. I put all new encasements on after thoroughly inspecting the box spring and mattress (removing the dust cover). I've checked behind outlets.

I DID find two hatched eggs on the side of my nightstand drawer with a pale yellow fecal deposit right next. Plus a few tiny dark fecal spots. No photos, but those did smear. The eggs came off easily with scotch tape.

Am I deluding myself that those traces could be over five years old?? I've found several suspect spots along the baseboards and near windows but nothing that is obvious like the nightstand. I got rid of that piece. I cannot find any bugs or skins anywhere in our bed or my son's toddler bed. Or our couch (I removed the bottom cover).

I'm driving myself insane with examining every spot and stain. Today I found dark brown/black spots in my son's bedroom along with one pale yellow spot similar to the nymph fecal found on my nightstand. I'm hesitant to involve management because I am well aware I may be absolutely paranoid and would like solid evidence.

I know I need to install some passive monitors but to be honest I'm terrified of actual bugs. I'm not exaggerating when I say the last five years since our infestation have been plagued by BB paranoia and fear.

Anyway, thanks for reading if you got this far. I would certainly appreciate any input or advice.
