Last night I found what I believed to be an early life-cycle bed bug crawling on my computer screen. I captured the bug, but killed it. After obviously freaking out (anxiety issues) I removed my bedding and inspected the mattress and box spring. Upon lifting the mattress I found a bug (pictured) crawling on top of the box spring. I captured the bug, put it in a zip-lock and put it in the freezer overnight while I wait for inspection from a pest control service. I think it's a male bed bug. Not sure, the shape seems just barely different from other pictures i've looked at. I live in Southern California. So, not sure if it's tropical or what difference that makes for control.
There are only a couple of visible fecal stains that I have found after thorough searching. And no sign of cast skins or other live bugs. Perhaps the infestation just recently started or there were only the 2 bugs around.
Thanks for the help,
