Ah, the joy of bed bugs. About a week ago, an exterminator and a canine determined that there were bed bugs in our apartment (a three bedroom in NYC). The bed bugs were found on the couch and on one of my roommate's bed. Both the canine and the exterminator said there was no evidence of the bed bugs in my room or the third roommate. We've been advised to prep for the extermination happening this Thursday. My question, which has not been answered by the landlord (the middleman between the exterminator and the tenants) is this: Do I really really really have to heat treat all of my clothing? I totally understand heat treating my mattress, my pillows, comforter, etc. I just don't see why I would need to treat all my clothing that is stored away in a room where there is no evidence whatsoever of bed bugs. Apparently we caught this situation in the early stages so I am thankful. Frankly, I just don't have the budget or time to go to a Laundromat in NYC to heat treat tons of clothing that hasn't even been worn in a few months (season change).
