Last night I was up late, on a phone call in my bed, when I felt a somewhat intense burning sensation. I turned on the lights to have a look and there were three red bite marks in a low across my leg. I'm pretty sure that's a good sign of bed bugs. The family I'm staying with has, and has never had pets, the UK doesn't have mosquitoes (and I know for a fact it's not mosquitoes), so it could be be carpet beetles, but I'm doubtful.
I'm really confused though because my day to day life is quite fixed. I go to work, if I finish early I go to the gym (which I did yesterday), then I head home for dinner. I've been living in the house for 5 months and this is the very first time I've been bitten. I reluctantly asked my cousins if they had ever had a problem and they said no.
If it is bed bugs I have no idea how I got them. The only thing that comes to my mind is that I did end up briefly (about 10 mins) sitting across from a homeless looking person; and the gym was doing a refurb and perhaps they had been in the carpets there.
I don't know if this is useful either but I felt the bites when I was in bed under the covers, and I was wearing sweatpants at that time as well. I read they mostly go for open skin so I found that rather weird.
This is a lot of information and I'm sorry if it's too much but I thought I'd include everything. I'm open to any advice.
