Can someone please tell me what might be the best way to use DDVP strips to kill any bedbugs which might possibly be alive in various books taken from my son's room?
We found live bedbugs in the bedroom last June. The room was heat-treated, and we left about 2 dozen of his most treasured books in the room during heat treatment (the rest we threw away). Since we know that some of the bugs survived the heat treatment, as well as multiple follow up sprays, I have quarantined the books into plastic bags. The bags live in a large rubbermaid coffin on our porch, awaiting treatment.
We do not own a packtite. I have been rotating batches of books in and out of my freezer at 2-week intervals, but I've been told this method is unreliable. The previously frozen books remain in quarantine.
Can someone please advise me on the best way to treat books using DDVP strips? Can I use large ziploc bags? How many books can I put in each bag? Should I use rubbermaid containers instead of bags? If so, how large should the containers be per amount of books per number of DDVP strips? Is it best for the strips to not come into direct contact with the books? Will the books be toxic to handle following DDVP treatment? I will be posting a nearly identical question concerning Lego sets.
Where can I purchase DDVP strips?
